This is my first carpet, I bought it from DD and was wondering if you thought it looked good. Still acclimating but interested in your initial thoughts.

Water temp was 74 specific gravity 1.027 same as mine. Refrac may be off though. I thought the same thing when I saw the mouth. Time will tell.
 
Mouth: stressed from shipping can cause it to open. Not neccessary a bad sign. if it inflat/de-flats frequently then it's something to worry about.

I agree, looks like it just a lil stressed from shipping. Otherwise looks very healthy and has a beautiful color
 
I just got a red one last week and mouth looked the same as yours, after about 2 days in the tank his mouth was closed and all expanded and happy.
Give it time!
 
Definitely looks good for only 3 hours in the tank. Pretty haddoni.

As far as refractometer being on/off, there is a product called Pinpoint Salinity Monitor Calibration Solution. It's cheap and you can find it at Marine Depot, among other online dealers. It is precisely 1.025 and thus you can calibrate your refractometer accordingly. Using distilled water will result in approx. .003 points off.
 
Greenish-Yellow under normal lighting but definetley neon yellow under actinics. Foot is firmly planted where I made a spot in the substrate. I took a picture with flash while the halides were off and it made a huge contraction immediately. Which makes me think its ok.. The mouth is still wider than I'd like but its still very early. Heres a picture under actinics.

Man, I have seen clown triggers tear apart ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. Not sure why you would want to risk either of those animals.
 
Lol, worst if the clown trigger attacked and the anemone got a hold of it and ate it then the carpet got sick and died as well.
 
The clown trigger was a lease, I bought him very small he behaved up until this afternoon. He sampled my elegance coral. LEASE UP! I returned him for credit at the LFS so no ones gonna get hurt now. Picked up a nice purple plasma and a fire shrimp in trade. I do think if he was gonna sample the Haddoni he would have to be quick. My $$ would have been on the Carpet though. BTW he never bothered my RBTA, but I know how triggers are and when they snap things get ugly quick. I do think today was a good day to get rid of him he was getting bolder by the minute.

The know how to decimate that anemone buy going for the column and pedal disc, especially while the anemone is settling in...
 
I think the trigger would lose that battle, haddoni's are notorious fish eaters. They are so sticky, anything that touches a healthy one is doomed.
