New Juwel tank

Sneds

Complete newbie here, just had a couple questions.

I've been lurkin' on the forums for quite some time, I am planning a small reef tank in the future, however, I was just given a 70 gallon Juwel that I'm thinking would make a nice fowlr, maybe help me get some smarts before going full reef.

Anyway, I will ditch the internal filter/pump, go with a retro T5 lighting, sump....

the question is, is the tank drillable on the back. I tried the sunglass trick, can't tell. No stickers anywhere and the company will not email me back. Anyone out there got a Juwel, I guess they are not available in the US anymore.

I noticed the sides of the tank are thicker than the front and back panels, what kind of quality are we talking, should I just pass it along. The price was hard to pass up (Get it out and it's yours...)

Thanks for the help, TS

the jewel tanks are german and a lot more popular over here tbh, what actual tank is it, is it, i know its 70 gallon but what is it called, i can ask about it for you, i have the trigon 350 myself and it is drillable, you may have the rekord, you will need to let me know, but it may well be drillable

I do not see any name or serial number on the tank or stand, I have measured the tank and according to the aquarium calculator on the RC site, it comes out to be just shy of 70 gallons. It is black and looks like the Lido model I believe.

Thanks for the help, if I find out any more information, I will post it.

I believe it would be the Rio 240. I will have to measure the tank in cm instead of inches.

I cannot find any information on the site to determine if it is tempered glass or not, so I guess it's drill and see. It was free, so if it breaks, I'm not out that much.

Thanks for the link to the site.
