New Latz!

It's day 3 now and she's perfectly healthy as far as I can tell. She gorged on mysis yesterday and this afternoon. I got her directly from a wholesaler. I actually ordered three latz and four leucs but they only sent one of each, and the leuc was DOA. =[

This one's about 4 inches, so if anybody's got a smaller male shoot me a PM! :D
Enjoy the pics!

Thanks guys and gals.
Slakker, I don't have her in a QT. I've never quarantined my fish since I believe my main system is a more ideal environment. She is in a seperate tank just plumbed to my main system so if anything goes wrong it'll be easy to isolate.

Awsome fish Viper, and a very healthy looking specimen at that. If you ever find more after finding a male for yourself let me know. I've been wanting for a pair of years!

The main system definitely offers higher water quality, though I'm concerned that any parasites your new clown might be carrying could spread to the main system.

That's not to say that I don't think you know what you're doing, as I'm sure you've thought of this as well. I'm just curious to know what you do to prevent it, aside from just cutting it off at the first sign of trouble...UV sterilizer between this isolation tank and the main tank, perhaps?

Other than shutting off the pumps, none. I've only got a potters angel and 4 bangaiis in my main tank. I've never QTed any of my fish in the past and never had a problem. I guess it'll just take one big outbreak to teach me a lesson. ;)
I'll definitely consider QTing any future fish now that I have one I'd especially hate to lose.

So what do you plan on doing if you end up having to treat her for something? Will you pull the rocks/sand or move her to a separate tank?

Are you going to keep her at a lower temp than normal? Isn't it true that these clowns come from cooler waters and do better in 75degree water....
fwiw.
austin

Definitely cooler, subtropical temp for the A. latezonatus, I believe they are from Lord Howe Island, if my memory serves me correct, which is incredibly south of the equator, so to keep him happy and healthy, turn down the heat! Nice fish BTW, one of my personal favs...

Lord howe island and nsw australia is where they are from. The one you got most likely came from australia.
So, if you are going to keep the temp lower, and its connected to your main system, your going to keep the whole system lower? How do you plan on doing it....
fwiw i would suggest a seperate system for this female...

I understand when rare fishes come in like this everyone want to make sure the fish gets the best possible parameters. However I think we should let Viper enjoy his fish and have ppl leave some positive comments instead of trying to hint at things.

Again you're making me jealous with that great fish. :D

Thanks for the comments everybody, I appreciate any help with them.
I have the tank at about 76 degrees.

Slakker, I would just disconnect the tank from my main system and treat her as is. There's only two rocks and a thin layer of sand so I can easily convert it to a QT in a matter of minutes. Don't worry about it, I'm not a newbie at this. :)
