New Life Spectrum

Hey Folks,

NLS has been highly recommended to me as being the primary food source for my reef tank...What I'm wondering is, what formula? There is literally thousands to choose from..

Thanks!

To date, I've been using Rob's Original blend (frozen), but that can be a bit of a pain to feed and with only one fish in the tank so far, it's quite easy to over feed with it. I'm wanting to primarily use the pellets and supplement with Rob's a couple days a week.

Primarily I feed Spectrum 1mm with garlic. I tried frozen bryne and my fish just rotate in position starting as it goes by with a *** you want me to eat that rly look on their face. The Spectrum they do lightening fast darts to devour the pieces. While it has me a little nervous today they started darting up to the surface at ballistic speeds to hit the pellets. Not even waiting for them to sink anymore.

Ztrain I'm not trying to tell you how to run your tank but I would ease up on the garlic. Using it long term can damage the fishes liver. It causes fatty liver disease in fish and should only be used for finicky fish to get them used to a captive diet.

There are different sized pellets, but are there actually that many formulations? I use the 1mm sinking pellets, primarily the algae-max (though I also have the finicky version too). Agree that a variety is better, though if you are going to feed primarily one food, the NLS pellets are well balanced.

I use a mix of 0.5 mm small fish formula and 2 mm medium fish formula. My smaller fish like firefish, gobies like the smaller food (though even the larger angel and butterflies eat both the smaller and the larger size).

I have the normal NLS pellets, but mainly feed my fish NLS Thera+A pellets in the morning, and LRS frozen foods at night. They're all fat and happy, which is why I exclusively use just these two.
