New Lights

I just put up the aquatic life 48'' T-5 lights on my 120ga tank. The set up was super easy and it's a real clean setup. It has 4 bulbs and leds with a built in timer and one chord coming off the back. I'm replacing an orbits 48'' w/ halides and t-5. thought I'd give this a try and with everyone.

Looks good,

AS Lynn said, how do you like the colors in your tank with the new unit?

Paul.

The color seem a little flat with the 10k that came with the kit compared to the 14k Halides I had. But for the exchange of the more simple set up and all the timers and the bird nest of wires I got to toss made it all worth while to me. Plus it fits in to the canopy with less of a heat issue

Yep, understand that

Great thing about T5 is you can play around with bulb combinations to get color combinations you like.

I have a 2 bulb 48" light systems and im using 10k and 420 actinic. I did have just 2 actinics before until i found out i should go with the t5. The new lights i have show less blue which i really loved. Can i change bulbs since i only have a dual light fixture and still give the reef tank the proper lighting it needs for corals and fish?

just a sugestion, check out the t5 thread if you need a link shoot me a pm don't try to read all 10k pages but post your set up in there and what you want it to look like and Grimmreefer will give you some bulb combo's in order of placement. he know's his stuff! I've had several conversations with him personally and he's a really good guy, he even did some par testing for me on a reflector I bought.

I've ran T-5s before and I've got a Giesemann Aquablue+/Actinic +/ MIDDAY AND A Pure Actinic to exchange to 10ks out to add some color. The fixture is what I was wanting to high light. Thanks everyone for the suggestion I've seen that T-5 thread add it's long....but thanks for the thread Lytehouse that something new to read.
