New live rock?

I have heard that when you are putting live rock in your tank you should first put it in a bucket with 1/2 fresh water and 1/2 salt water... then gradually add more sw...is this true? and if so, is there a certain type of bucket to use...I think I also read that, that it should not have been used with soaps or chemicals??? Can I just go to the store and buy a normal bucket? thanks

I've never heard of doing the 1/2 fresh/salt thing...pure saltwater should be fine. Some people do dip their rock in a hyper saline solution however. But I've never found this necessary.

Food grade plastic is what you want. The grey rubbermade brute trashcans are great...and you can use them later for water changes.

I conditioned my live rock in saltwater, after a while, that bad smell goes away as the dying/dead life decomposes-

yes food grade plastic only. cure rock in a seprate con. till tests
show no more amo. nit. niat. than you can add to the dis. tank.no 1/2 and 1/2 just good salt water do a few water changes.
