New LT plate issues

I purchased this LT plate coral about 2 weeks ago. For the first 4-5 days he looked great, all tentacles out & extended. For most of this past week he looks like the pic ... half looks ok, the other half is all drawn in. It's always the same sides as well. Where he is on the bottom of the tank is low flow.

My tank has been up & running for 5 years, no other corals show signs of distress. All parameters are stable and I have a Genesis auto water changing system that changes out 1 gal every 12 hrs continuously.

Any ideas?

Has the coral always been on the sandbed like that? It may have gotten damaged somewhere along the line and for whatever reason it's starting to feel the effects now. If you haven't already you might want to look into Brown Jelly Disease/Syndrome. This might not be the case now now, but these corals haven't been known to recover from an injury too well and it could be on it's way.

I've got plate coral that has started to look not so hot this past week as well. Hopefully I"ll be able to get it to come back around.

plates can come back from tiny bits of remaining tissue. I would leave the skeleton in the tank
