New Mantis.

I set up my mantis tank a few weeks ago and finnaly found an inhabitant for it today. It's about 3" or 3'5". Here's a pic.

It's a 5 gallon acrylic tank...I have a 20g set up that I may consider moving it to.

how thick is the acrylic

It's an eclipse tank. It may be .25 inch thick. I'm not worried about him breaking it, b/c I don't think he is gonna sit there and bang at the sides.

acrylic can hardly break if we hammer it...do you think a mantis can break it?

Mantis can pack a hit as strong as a .22 calibre bullet... I think he could bust out of that eclipse with ease... IMO

I don't think so...this thing has a hard time with hermit shells, his smasher is sotof week...

Looks like a Odontodactylus Scyllarus to me.a 20g would be good for this guy, he gets pretty big. Roy said they r possibly the strongest stomatopods out there, so I would watch out when he gets bigger.
