ok, there is a peacock mantis at my lfs and ive never seen any other store in my area carry one. ive been looking for one for a long time and really want to pick this one up. but the only open tank i have is a ten gallon. the mantis is about 4 1/2 inches long, maybe a bit bigger, is the ten gallon too small for him? it is already cycled and the filtration includes an aquaclear 150. and an aquaclear 1000 powerhead. i have about 10 pounds of live rock, plenty of caves, and around 3-4 inches deep of live sand.
please help me out, thanks

oh yeah, the lighting is a 32 watt power compact. and the tank is acrylic. all i have in the tank right now is a couple of snails and 7 hermit crabs and one damsel who i would mind feeding to a mantis.

I would think it would be a good temporary tank but you will want to upgrade pretty soon, O.S. get pretty big. I would say go for it and look into getting a larger tank, probably 20-25 gallons.

ok, got him home, hes doing fine. do peacocks eat fish? because he hasnt killed the damsel i have in there. Is it just a matter of time before he gets hungry or what? also, do they make burrows? how do they like there shelter? theres plenty of liverock but he just hides behind them, not under them. he also is very interested in the culerpa (spelling?) i have in there, he "plays" with it alot. is that normal or are they just weird like that?
