I,m looking for to being a member of MARS. I,ve been following your club through Reef Central and decided to make my first meeting Feb.15th (long haired guy sitting in the back). I also activated my membership. After the meeting I knew I made a good move by joining...a bunch of friendly people having some good fun.
True Story--A year ago I had an 80 gal cichlid tank. My wife and I went to Exotic Aquarium to buy a 12 dollar plastic plant. I saw a 210 gal cherry wood AGA tank. Me to wife, "This tank sure would look good in our living room"! Wife said "Yeah I think it would". Before she could change her mind I paid for it real quick. Me to wife, "This tank is too nice for cichlids, we should change to saltwater". She resisted, "Aren't those fish expensive?" I said, "Nah it'll be alright." A year, and lots of money later, we have a reef tank in the making. Poor thing, now she just shakes her head. Her husband has lost his mind. My name is Joe Figueroa and I'm a reefaholic. Anyone know what the reefaholics anonymous 12 step program is? I guess this makes MARS my support group.

Thanks to Sean from Exotic Aquarium for helping me get started and for some awesome frags.
Thanks to Aaron (airinhere) for helping me with my first frags, and to the both of them for their patience with all my newbie questions.

A reefaholic joining MARS is like an alcoholic joining a beer brewing club. ;-) We only enable your addiction...

Hey - my first reef tank was only suppose to cost $70. Yeah right...

Welcome to the club.

It's for paid Members of RC only :(

You paid a reef central membership just to use the spellcheck? LOL
Welcome. I'm new too...to here. Minh took the words right out of my mouth.
I too suffer from reefaholism. Or possibly suckthemoneyfrommy walletaholism. Something along those lines. I think that's what My husband calls it.
Minh....my 2.5 gal Pico wasn't going to cost me more than $50. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I think I've got close to $500 in over the last year and now I'm setting up a 46 gal. I just spend about $30 at a time.......when hubby asks how much I spent....well...I spent $30.....I just don't tell him how many times in one day I spent $30. LOL

Kevin, Sometimes you just have to let your freak flag fly!

Gem, One gets more than spellcheck with membership. There's some nice goodies for only 24 bucks.

Funman, Thanks for the welcome, it's truly appreciated.

Joining MARS was the best thing that happened to my reef! Everyone here is so nice and helpful. See you at the frag swap/meetings!

Good to see you here!

Now you have to set up a photobucket account http://photobucket.com/
and post some pictures onto it. Then you can copy the IMG code for your pictures and paste them onto messages . That way you can show off your pictures!

Its easy and fun!

Show off your tanks.....

Thanks Aaron. As far as Photobucket goes, you know I'm not very computer savvy, but I'll wrestle with it and see what happens. I definitely have to practice my photography!

Hey Joe's...look...you got your sign! Do you have spellcheck too now? LOL
I know there are more benefits to paid RC membership......I was teasing about the spellcheck.

I plan on supporting RC with a membership in the near future.....but I wan't to join MARS first, and go to the frag swap, and get my tank all together....only so much $$$ at a time. LOL

210g reef for a newbie. That's one heck of a way to start. I wonder what the next upgrade will be. 500gallon! Looks like you got all the right equipment to make even oldtime veterans jealous. Welcome to RC and Mars.
