New master pump

In the 2005 catalog, Tunze says that the new master pumps 1073.090, 1073.140 and 1073.160 can only be used submerged in freshwater. Why canÃ"šÃ‚´t they be used in saltwater also? Is it possible to use one of these pumps submerged in saltwater for small periods of time?

it looks like those master pumps have some cooling fins on them that might be corrosive in saltwater? i dont know for sure but that is what i figured from the picture.

As Typo said, they have aluminum cooling fins to cool the internal electronics, for this reason they can only be used externally on marine aquariums.

I was thinking of using it to collect natural sea water, so i was thinking if this could be possible because the pump isn't going to be submerged for a long period of time, maybe 30 minutes every week or so. If i immediatly wash it with freshwater after being submerged in the sea, do you think that the aluminium will corrode?

It is an expensive pump to ruin. The 7100/2 or 7400/2 would be better suited for this. They already use them to seperate oil from sea water.
