New maxima

So after 4 months of being clam-less I have decided to try a new clam. I was really concerned that the same problem I had with my last clam die off would return so I went with a less expensive maxima from my LFS. So far so good, its been 3 weeks and there's already some new growth on its shell. Tell me what you think.

do you feed him directly or just put the DT's into the water for indirect feeding? Just wondering. Also, do you feed him anything else?

Indirectly he gets fed, I just add it to the tank and my power heads blow it down to him. I feed my corals oyster eggs and I think clams like that as well, or so I've herd.

If you have fish and coral you don't need to target feed the clam. Clams get most of what they need from your light. Some foods are too big for a clam to filter and you run the risk of clogging thier gills. I add some phyto once a weed to the tank and in no way try to target feed. Most of my maxima's are under 2" and are thriveing. Also the algae you scrape from your glass is going to your clams and coral too.

My tank is a pain to get my arm into so I just keep my hands out unless I absolutely have to get in there to fix something, so direct feeding wasn't gonna happen. I figured if they can grow in the wild with out someone feeding them directly, then it should work in my tank the same way.
