Hey guys. New member here. Just bought an Oceanic 14, from Tom @ Exotic Aquariums. Excellent guy, customer service is fantastic, and is fairly priced. "ORCA" branded store, and was extremely pleased with my purchase.

I was a member of ORCA about 3 years ago, and I got out due to an extended hospital stay.

I'm back into it, and starting small, since I do have about 1 year of experience with a 29gal. I just need to refresh my memory with all the terms, and what does what and goes where.

Got 48w of PC lighting, and hoping to grow softies and a few LPS's. Obviously I don't have THAT much room. I see some tasty frags/corals FS here locally, but that's for later. Tank is in it's first day of the cycle.

Will post some pictures later. Not sure how to use the "macro" mode on my camera yet, so I'll play around with it later.

Question:Question: Question:

Where's the best store to buy "purple" rock? aka quality rock? Just need about 10lbs or so, and some "ruble".

TIA,

-Nick

I bought mine from that tampa liverock company(not their name).....they are rc sponsers. anyways, great rock...they ship ups ground...you get it the next day. had tons of good stuff on it, had very little die off during my "cycle"

There is also Ocean Direct i think that's what they are called in long wood. Their rock isn't so much purple as their rock never stays in their holding tanks long enough to get purple.

If you really want purple rock your best bet is buying from someone with an established tank.

Yeah, for purple rock, buy from someone that has a tank they are breaking down. Otherwise, Ocean Direct has great prices on rock.

This is the best way to get well cured rock at a decent price, hands down.
