New montipora with white nudibranches

Today I saw a white nudibranch on my green montipora. This montipora is in my coral QT tank for two weeks now. It is the only montipora in the tank. I also am Qt at the moment zoanthus, ricordias and discosomas.
How can I treat the montipora and other corals if needed in a efective way?

Take corals out and dip them with revive or whatever you have.

Agreed. I would also suggest blasting it off with a baster while your dipping. You will most likely want to repeat this process every 3-4 days until they are gone.

Since it's in QT and is the only monti in there, I'd suggest just keeping a close eye on the coral, inspecting it once or twice a day. If you see a nudi pull it with tweezers. Put superglue on the area that was damaged. If you see eggs, scrape them in a separate container and give it a quick rinse, then use superglue on that area.

I was able to get them out of my display using that method, IMO less stressful to the coral than repeated dips.

Dip daily, get some levequin, Ive been fighting with them for months, finally cut all my montis up and moved tanks. I'm wondering how long it will take them to die with no food?

Revive dip daily (will not kill Aeolids, only stun them), and carefully inspect, and remove all egg masses/nudis. You DON'T wan these in your display, they are nasty. If it was mine, I'd save a small, clean frag, and throw the rest of the colony away, they grow like weeds, anyway. At least you caught it in QT.

6-9 months, they can lie dormant for a lot longer than people think.

Melafix seems to have a very debilitating effect on Nudibranchs. I'd mix up a melafix bath and dip it. You'll need to dip often, AND inspect closely for egg clusters, as the Melafix won't harm the eggs. You'll want a magnifying glass, to inspect for eggs.

After a bit of research and after examining the montipora carfully I decided to remove all the nudibranches I could see and dip the coral in a solution of potassium permanganate. I was able to find this info in this article: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2007-09/eb/index.php

What species Montipora and what strength/duration? Did you use lab-grade KMnO4 or Kent PolyOx? Certain species are VERY sensitive to KMnO4, especially M. capricornis. I don't recommend that treatment, as it's too harsh on most corals, and it doesn't always get all the egg masses. I dipped about 100 colonies at 50 Mg/L for 90 min., and it ended up killing over 50% of the corals. Good luck.

Sorry but I dont know SPS corals well. It is a green hat shaped montipora.
I used the lab grade type 50mg\L for 90 minutes. The coral came out brownish. I will post developments as they come up.


What about the other corals that are not montiporas or other SPS do these nudibranches spread to them as well or not?

What about Kent Poly-ox is it any good against them?

So after 24 hrs my montipora Confusa is still brownish but with tiny green polips showing up. I removed it just to check for eggs or any nudis and for now I was not able to find any.

I will post as development continues.

Anyone can help me with info regarding these pests spreading to other corals or not?

I suppose they can/do crawl on other corals, but they will only lay eggs/habitate other Montipora. Clean your coral off the best you can (daily), it'll stay brown for a week or so, if it doesn't die first.
