Hello, i found a new mantis in a shipment from bali.
The animal is 15 mm big and has white meral spots.
I thinks it is a Gonodactylellus but i don't know the species.
Here are some pics.

Timmy needing an ID... your the one always IDing everyone else's.

What do you do to get your hands on so many Mantis?

Hello Thurge,

i work in a store and we import many life rocks every second week.
There i find many mantis shrimps and sometimes one mantis i can't identify.

i think DR roys in australia at the momment. Timmy, very nice dude!. that is a awsome pattern he has on him.

i just checked roy's list and it said g affinis has pointed white eyes, it looks like yours does too! unless i'm mistaken,

(which is VERY VERY likely!)

i'm just trying to get ID practice!

Timmy,

It is definitely Gonodactylellus, but I can't see enough of the telson to get it to species. My first guess would be G. micronesiccus, but if there are several small spines on the posterior median and SM carinae, it could be G. molyneux.

Roy

Thanks for your answer Dr. Roy.
I checked some more pics in high resolution and see no spines.
Wow, that is a very nice find.
Gonodactylellus micronensicus.
