New PBT advice please :)

I recently purchased a PBT (may 27) and placed him a quarantine tank. Water params are all good (0 ammonia and 0 nitrites and tested daily, salinity at 1.023, temp 79). He was feeding no problem until last Thursday (jun 2). I noticed he was eating less frozen mysis shrimp and not as much seaweed on that day, and since Friday I have not noticed him eating anything being put into the tank. Food being fed to the PBT before were mysis shrimp, seaweed, and the herbivore frozen cubes. I have already completed 2 rounds of prazi pro and Coppersafe has been at 1 to control potential ich problems. Quarantine tank is bare bottom with no LR and I recently put paper against the tank walls thinking something might have been spooking him. Anyone think this just a hunger strike or something more serious? I was contemplating putting him into my 240 tank since it has LR with algae but I have battled ich before and sadly thought that it would be more important to not infect the other fish and let things take their course. The PBT was super fat when I got him but I can barely his 'spine' now.

Oh yes, no ich or fluke symptoms have been observed as of yet.

I had gotten a 5.5" PBT on May 17th from LA. Big healthy specimen, eats like a pig 3-4x/day. But each time I tried dosing cupramine, he would immediately quit eating the next day. The recommended initial dose of cupramine is .25ppm. I tried that the 1st time. He quit eating, so I did some WC to remove the copper. He starts eating again. Ate for a week. Then I tried dosing 1ml, which is .0625ppm. He quits eating. Again with the WC and carbon. Starts eating again right away. Tried it several times like that.

I just moved him from my 40g QT to my 29g QT tank earlier. Once he eats again, I'm going to go the hypo route instead.

Did your fish quit eating after the dosing of coppersafe?

I know a couple of LFS that swears by Copper Power. I think its similar to coppersafe. I know their PBTs has no problems eating even in Copper Power.

I have a bottle and might consider trying it.

I began dosing the coppersafe and prazi pro at full dose the Friday I purchased him. It took him/her until the following Friday before food was no longer accepted. I may do a water change and put some carbon in to see if he starts eating again if that is recommended. With other predator fish it is ok for them to not eat for a while but with a pbt it's now going on 4 days and was not sure if that would be ok. Also I believe seachems .25 dosage may be equivalent to coppersafes 1.0 dosage to be effective

Thanks
Mike

now that mine is out of copper, hes feeding again today. i'm going to start lowering my Salinity on this tank today.

i hypo'd my powder brown tang and he turned out excellent.

my powder blue is eating both mysis and nori at 0.4mg/l cupramine. he didn't eat much the first day then as the day gone one he's been eating NLS pellets, nori and mysis. they like to graze why not try tying a piece of nori to a rock and see if any of the nroi gets eat over a few days? I got the powder blue 5/12/11 and he's gone through the 3 weeks cupramine treament, 2 weeks of prazipro all while in the same QT with a yellow, and a powder brown tang. The 3 little guys been transfered into the Dt now and although the first day the 3 were being picked on by the sohal and purple now they all swim together and i have not notice and fighting of any sorts.
