Tomorrow, I'm going to pick up a 6+" peacock mantis. It is going into a 30 gallon long acrylic tank. How deep should the sand bed be? What length and diameter PVC pipe should I get?
i would go against PVC, i would get about 3" of sand in the spot you want it to make the burrow under rocks and put quite a bit of LR rubble in there, i just did that with my peacock and she loves beating up the rubble and stablizing her burrow
Cool. I bought two pounds of tonga branches that I am going to break into rubble, and I have some other rubble as well. I have a couple of pounds of liverock for the tank as well.
yup no problem, i really cant say that PVC is bad or anything its just i prefer the natural look in my tanks and if you give it enough sand and a large flat piece of LR it will build its own burrow and it should be more then enough for it to hide from the light
