he is in a 24g Aquapod. But one of it's hammer isn't really functional because he strikes with his right hammer the most. But he could still bend his left hammer so I'm not sure lol
How hard can a 3.5-4 inch mantis hit?
seems like he can't fight a emerald crab or maybe I got one thats too big haha
I have a nasty little peacock that is similar in size to yours and I have been building up his ability to kill blue crab. He started out with ones about half his size and now disables and kills crabs similar in size to him. Hes a beast and a lot of fun to watch. Sounds like your mantis may have lost his left raptorial appendage earlier on and may need a couple more molts before it is back to full strength. Congrats on the new mantis
damn you are lucky! mine's a whimp lol prob because his left hammer.. he can't really break any shells lol what he does is stuff the hermit shells with sand until they pop out and smacks them then takes the hermits out.
You have to really aggrevate it in order for him to attempt to smack the glass... The only thing I am worrying about is him cracking the bottom of the tank trying to dig a burrow. But he has to get bigger in order to do that. so i'll worry about that later.. hopefully I will build a custom acrylic tank for this guy
What is that green plant stuff in the backround? That stuff has been growing like crazy in my tank...a little piece of it came with my arrow crab a few months back and now its gotten huge.
ohhh thats cheato? nice...my pistol shrimp wont eat it...but i see hermits crawling in it all the time...what else can i do with it? or what else does it do?
the macro takes out nitrates from your tank. If you have a refugium you can toss the cheato in there.. it helps grow copepods etc.. think of it as natural fish food. really beneficial!!
sweet...so far my watchman goby and pistol have taken nibbles of it but they dont seem to enjoy it...but like i said...the inverts are all over that stuff...thanks for the info
