New Reef Club

I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in a reef club in either deltona, deland or voulsia county? I just want to find local people to trade and hangout with. I would also like to put together trips and things like that. I would still stay a memeber of orca and all that. It would just be a local branch for me or something like that. Thanks, Jason

I think this would be a great idea- more of just a local get together than an actual club. :D just to get to know some fellow reefers

hey megatsea if you want to upgrade your tank some for cheap i have two 50 gallon cubes i could sell you cheap - or maybe trade you for something (for members only ;-) haha)

YEah dont forget skinny joe, hes got all the hookups.

lol I was just waiting for a time for the bump to be useful. Don't get all excited.

Oh yeah me too.

there are always possibilities on upgrading

Still eyeing a 40 gallon.....

only a 40? I would go at least a 55 :) I'm trying to finish my 55 so we can hurry up and upgrade the 40 to something like a 125.

40 is simple

40 is simple

I have a simple system that I inherited from my son(empty tank syndrome, I had to start a reef). I could not scrape off all the coraline, so I reversed the tank so the back clear side is now my front side :).....
When I can't keep up with the coraline scraping on the remainding side, then I will go into a 40 ...after I manage corraline take over on both panels, I will graduate to a 55...than the 75 until I get it right!
No, seriously, I want an easier tank to reach into, and keep my upgrade cost down. That is why a 40 is more appropriate for me. 55 is too narrow as well....I had planned on the 75....bought the cabinet , but am happy with the 29 at this time. Hair algae is my major battle, as I think my star serpent is eating my snails...so I need to replace them soon. I target feed the serpent 3x a week....maybe not enough...anyways, I am looking for a home for him as he is growing. Real neat as he comes when I tap on the glass with my tongs at feeding time.
Anyways, keep me posted. And who is this Joe guy?
M

How big is your serpent, I may be interested. I'm confused with how growing coralline on your glass is related to getting it right, maybe I'm just missing something. Skinny Joe is the guy who posted in this thread. He lives in titusville, sort of, that has been doing this stuff for a while and has good info and some useful resources.

geting it right

geting it right

It was a pun on being lazy...my corraline grows so fast, and I wasn't able to scrape it off completely...I just reversed the tank when the viewing was badly diminished .....and I rearranged the rock work, replaced sand etc ....but my husband said it was cheating and I should get it right and not take a short cut by turning the tank around....but I see it as an excuse to get a new tank when the corraline takes over ithe glass again ......
I do scrape it routinly, but I did let it go too much last summer where it was so encrusted in places...I could not scrape it at all i soe places....
The star is 10 to 11 inches when stretched out from tentacle to tentacle....his center the size of a quarter....

I have a serpent star, and I have yet to see him eat a snail. I target feed him every night. Yeah, Im confused about getting it right because of coraline. For the hair algae, try to rip it off, and for what is left, get like 2 mexican turbo snails. Those dudes are lawn mowers, and theyre big enough that nothing will eat them.
