New Refugium... rubble or live rock?

Going to set up new fug... should I go chaeto with rubble, chaeto with live rock, or just chaeto?

What is the rubble/live rock used for?

You can try any combination of the above. Typically the additional rock is added filtration. Occasionally beneficial little critters can live there as well.

bottom of my fuge is all marine pure for additional filtration and for places for my pods to breed. I have chateo spinning above that...

I've got rubble and cheato. I started out with the fuge filled with rock but I wanted to add some cheato for pods so I just busted up some of the rock into rubble and covered the bottom about an inch thick then added the macro. I've added pods several times before doing this and they never lased long. Hoping the cheato helps.

Depending on the size of your refugium, I would just go with a couple baseball size pieces of live rock and some chaeto. Keep it simple and keep it clean.
