New return pump? Help...

Hey guys looking to get a new return pump.
I'm not liking my Quiet one 3000 (870 GPH)
It has problems restarting after I shut down the power to it.

So I'm in the market for something at like 1000-1200 GPH.
It can be submersible or non submersible (I will make it work either way)
I would like it to be somewhat quiet, and not put too much heat into the water.

Any sugestions?

Also looking into getting a Tunze Turbelle® Stream 6060 or 6080
Are these worth the price? Would one be enough for my 30G tank or would I need two? (keep in mind I already have a closed loop mag5 running too)

I really like Oceanrunners. I have a 3500 good for 900GPH and just got a 6500 to do a closed loop they i believe are rated at 1700GPH and were on sale at drsfostersmith for real cheap

Mag Drive for your needs is $120 here in Marysville. My buddy has one, and it is a quiet little dude. hes had it for about a year with zero hiccups.

If you want the Tunze without the wavemaker, just go with a Seio. Mag drive return pumps are hit and miss, I've never had a problem, but many have, and many complain of the heat they generate. I like the coralife "turbo-sea" pumps, they work well and are an excellent price for externals.

why do you want 1200gph through your return? are you using an in-sump skimmer? If so, then you want the same gph or less going through your sump as is being pumped into your skimmer.
just seems awefully overkill to me...

You would save heat with say a mag 5 for return

As for the Tunze, are you BB? If san, the 6060 and especially the 6080 will blow it to kingdom come in a 30g....take a look at Tunze Nanostreams.

I've heard good things about the nano-streams. Mag drives can be had for significantly cheaper than aforementioned at certain sacramento stores.

I would get a Oceanrunner any day over a mag pump.

I agree withkdblove get an Ocean Runner if you don't mind ordering online orifyour lfs actually carries them.

But don't get a big one....
