hi all
just got these very small rics yesterday. i think they are about ½ inch.. is it normal for them to be this small?

could anyone tell me what their colors would be classified as? and is it yuma or florida? cant tell the difference between the 2..

i could only get decent pictures of the 2 of them.. there is a last one that is VERY pale yellow. but it is sitting right next to the other 2 so i guess its not bleached? its almost 'glowing in the dark' yellow kind of color..

Those are yuma ricordeas. They appear to be a little washed out on the colors. I would try shading them in the tank. That should help them to start coloring back up some.

They don't look very healthy yumas to me. I wouldn't have bought them, personally, unless they were very cheap because when they start bleaching like that they tend to melt away eventually in my experience. It could just be the camera making them look bleached though?

That said, if your tank is stable and you pick a good spot for them with a little bit of light (you can acclimate them to stronger light very slowly) and moderate to low flow, they may recover in time. It wouldn't hurt to give them some food a few times a week as well (cyclopeeze and mysis shrimp are good choices).

they are a lot darker under the normal tank light.. i had to use flash to get decent pictures of them ;)

they have a nice spot now, in the bottom of the tank with a bit shade.. no strong current..

btw they were free ;) (they are very small, i got them with another purchase)

Kind of a question off topic, is there yumas that are kind of just a plain, dullish, fleshy color? If that makes any sense......
I have had one for months that is healthy and nice and big all day but it's just a real plain color.

Sorry for the long delay. The answer is yes, there are lots of very dull looking yumas in the world (even more so than nice looking yumas).
