New Rose BTA with Clown question

We have finally gotten the Rose BTA we have been wanting from our LFS (we are picking it up on Tuesday). We are wanting to get a black false percula. Is it necessary to get two clowns or is it perfectly alright to only have one clown? What are some downsides and upsides to having only 1 or two?

It is not necessary to have a pair of clowns. I have 2 in my 55g and 1 in my 29 and they are all doing fine. I think the pair is cool because they really dont leave each others side. Its a cool relationship along with the carpet. Its all up to you. I would go with 2 though I think the clown will like having a buddy.

Okay lets say I get two do they have to be the same? For instance can I get one black false percula and one true percula?

um i think its better to go with a fasle perc and a false black perc but it can be done i would reccomend two they are so interesting in a pair

I have a couple mixed pairs, a chrysopterus x sandaracinos pair and a leucokranos x sandaracinos pair. IMO, mixed pairs are not as nice to see in a display tank as like pairs. There is just something slightly unnatural about it rubs me wrong, even though my two pairings occur occationally in nature.

It is amazing to me that clownfish pairs in nature often have the exact same markings as their partners, sometimes even the same misbarring.

I would be interested in seeing pictures of your mixed pairs if you have them.

The BTA in the background didn't like that I had to clean the glass to take the pics
