New Royal Gramma Dying?

DLANDINO

This may sound like a funny question but here goes. I brought home a Royla Gramma from my LFS about 2 hours ago. When I got him home and looked in the bag he looked to be on his last legs and continues to look this way now. I had to get him off of the filter intake 3 times already. The last time I did this, he floated to the bottom and the hermits and snails chased after him. He finally made his way into a crevice between the LR and the sand bed and remains there. Is this normal new Royal Gramma behavior, or is he going to be an expensive meal over night? Thanks..

I would look for a new LFS. The Royal Garamma is one of the hardiest saltwater fish available.

I second this.

Third this...mine is bullet proof. escaped a couple of murder attempts by my emeralds(boths times he wasnt paying attention and was busy eating instead), survived a few trips to the sump, and a bunch of other things have happend to that little fish lol yet he is still healthy. I think he has learned his lesson though as he has not gotten in any trouble for quite awhile.

Royal grammas are the only fish I ever had trouble keeping. Dont know why, but I have lost 2 of them rather easily. One was due to ich brought in by a Tang, but all my other fish survived that except the gramma. They are hardly the hardiest fish out there, at least not in my experiences anyways.

thanks all. it is terrible. My daughter loved this fish, at least in the bag at the petstore. She is going to wake up and look for him today. Such is life. Thanks agian
