New salt mixes cloudy and stays cloudy

My LFS was offering a "new" reef salt that was 50% off. I normally use Red Sea which mixes and is clear within 30 minutes. This stuff has been sitting for hours and remains cloudy. I am reluctant to use it because if it stays cloudy in the bucket, I suspect it will be like this in my DT.

I do not see any settling of particles, just has stayed cloudy since I mixed it. RODI water, salt was gradually poured in with a powerhead at the bottom of the bucket.

BTW, the name of the stuff is called "Pure Ocean Expert Reef Salt".

I am going to let it sit overnight and see if there any difference, but if not should I still use it and change out my GAC?....

Does a salt mix go "bad" ?

Might not be bad necessarily, but some "cheap salt" I've used in the past has taken 2-3 days to completely clear.

Sounds like maybe some precipitation has occurred. A flocculating agent like Seachem Clarity can help your mechanical filtration clear up the water. Check the parameters however, I suspect they are askew.

I let it sit overnight and there was a lot of sediment at the bottom of the bucket but the rest of the water was mostly clear. I measured the parameters and they were within range, so I decided to use it anyway since it was just a 10% water change. The rest of the 1-2 inches at the bottom of the bucket, I just tossed it away.
I have tried other salts, and never had this happen before.

The salt inside the bucket was fine and powdery, not clumpy so it did not look like it had been exposed to water/humidity. Apparently there had to be some reaction that is causing the sediment at the bottom.

Mix it with cool water next time. I heard sometimes salt mixes precipitate when mixed with warm water.
