Nice pics. I really need to get to know my XT as well as you do! Love the different colors and pattern variations all next to each other.

I love Scolymia's and your color's are especially nice, are they fully expanded in these pictures? mine Scoly base is 5" and he will expand into about 9 to 10 inch circle. Just curious if lighting, flow or water perameters have a major effect on expansion, nice corals RevHTree.

ok, this really makes me want a scoly, this and all other threads with scoly's. I'll have to put them into the summer budget somehow...i need a job for hte summer actually!

Nice collection there, is the new one off Diver's Den? Looks familiar. I'd love a red and green one but can't afford the price tag they come with.

Rev uses the Rebel XT w/100mm macro lens, as indicated by his info at the bottom of the posts.

Rev, any chance you want to share how you go about setting your camera when taking your pictures? I've got the same setup, but have yet to learn what I'm actually doing.

Thanks guys!

There is no secret to how I shoot and it's very simple and to be honest I really don't know much about shooting at all. I do know what works for these pics though.

1. Clean the Glass
2. Turn off all the pumps, power heads, anything that will cause any water movement.
3. Set up the tripod and camera.
4. Set camera to AV mode with an ISO of 100. (any movement will cause blur)
5. Get as close as I can then move out slowly until my lens will allow me to focus.
6. Set the timer and snap the pic. Again any movement even pressing the button can cause blur. (I use a remote to snap the pic)
7. Open the pic in Photoshop, do a auto adjustment, and an unsharp mask. Save and upload! :D

That is exactly how I do it. Easy and anyone can do this.

Oh and I love scolys as well. The one with the purple ring was from the divers den at LA. It was a little smaller than advertised though. :(

Simply gorgeous!!!!

Thanks for the tips on taking shots also. I immediately tried the settings you mentioned and took a few decent shots myself.

Your welcome! :D

Needing the flash or how you will adjust the white balance will vary from tank to tank and lighting. In my case, no flash, and no I do not adjust the white balance.

I am running (2) x 250w Hamilton 14k MH's and (2) x 110w VHO Actinic.
