new sea hare not moving

Picked up a sea hare yesterday to take care of my green hair algae problem. He's a big ugly looking thing but he was mowing down the GHA like a machine! I could actually hear the hair being ripped off my glass!

This morning, found him in a corner with his head in the sand. He's shrunken down in size but he hasn't really moved for hours. Is this normal? Is he just sleeping? Are they more active at night?

They sleep at night (mine usually burrows under the sand) but if it's not moving anymore it's probably dead, poke it and see if it reacts or see if the tank water smells.

Most sea hares are nocturnal. With any luck, he's just resting after gorging on your hair algae.

Cheers,

Don

he was sleeping...quite deeply I might add. I'd poke him and he wouldn't move. He came out later though and started munching away again.

Mine always finds a spot and stops moving for a while any time I change the water or do anything in the tank. I dont think they have any defense, so they lie still and try to blend in.
