Well I was just about to quit messing with this hobby as I was at wits ends with upkeep battles of the algae outbreak from hell. It was then at my darkest hour that I told a buddy that I was to sell it all. This was the beginning of the next chapter in the book. He too, had been planning on "downsizing" and in preparation for a deployment would be selling his tank and everything with it. Curiously, I asked, how much? His response was $800.00. This for a system of which I know has been a very successful FOWLR system for two years. I still don't know all the specifics and really don't care to as I felt and still feel the deal is great even for just the tank/stand/canopy. So, needless to say, here is what I do know: $800.00 gets me...

A 175 gallon Oceanic Bowfront RR tank/stand/canopy
A 75 gallon sump (some sort of homemade setup)
2 mag 9.5 return pumps
VHO lights (total wattage/brand/age unknown by me thus far)
225 lbs approx. of fuji live rock
3 heaters (brand/wattage unknown at this time)
all life in tank included...to include, scopus, yellow, purple, chevron, and sailfin tangs
Assist in teardown delivery and setup...

I was for sure not to pass this deal up, but wanted to post here as my excitement is growing by the day. We intend on doing the move next weekend! I have to move my current tank this weekend so the project will begin there.. I will post and update as I get through this upgrade!

Nice Snag! Be Sure to get some pics when you get her home and show us.....

Why cant I find a deal like that?

Its done, as I sit I am waiting on the storm to subside but after 36 grouling hours I have moved the tank from about 2 miles down the road. We started early saturday morning and spent about 5 hours taking the tank apart. Unfortunately we did find an unexpected snag in the deal. The stand had some moderate water damage. As it is made of MDF is had expanded and started to collect a mold on it. I suspect he had a small leak that went unnoticed. I will post several pictures of the process but as I said it was an exciting weekend! The deal ended up being $700.00 for all previously mentioned. The sump was a dissappointment but I am going to order a sump to replace it! It was a 55 gallon tank with some rock in it. The VHO ended up being a PFO setup 440watts. It was actually about 260lbs of rock. The fish are doing okay so far in their temporary home. My 72 gallon...
