I have spent so much time shooting dry wildlife and people that I have fallen out of practice with my reef shots, either way here is how the tank looked tonight :)

thanks! a lot of the macros I took from 20' away, I had the 70-300mm lens and it does 1-2 macro from 200-300 only, I should have gotten my little lens out. all from a Nokia camera phone

haha, ok I will tomorrow, and before the old timers give me hell I shot it with a canon d-slr (digital reblel xt) with a Sigma 70-300mm apo dg macro lens. and close up filters for a few. for a full tank shot with that lens Id have to stand outside of the house, so Ill change lenses tomorrow night a shoot a few

wow alex.... friggin awesome. it's a 29g? you are an inspiration for my 30g! i would love to pick your brain sometime for hints etc, on this size tank.

Nice shots Alex! So you zoom in to get thos shots from across the room? I'll have to give that a try.

Hey Alex
My girlfriend Shannon, is in your photoclub........

We were wondering if you were using an external lightsource and for my benifit which ISO setting?

Thanks, Doug

what kind of macro algea is that on the left of a couple of the pictures?.. kinda looks like seaweed type ...

It does look like a bonzai pacific coast kelp :) bluenassierius tells me its sargassum, pardon the spelling. He says also that some consider it a nuicant macro but he and I like it, and I do like the fact that it doesnt vine out like alot of others so it seems fairly easy to manage.

It was tucked away in some LR I got from John@yourreef.com and just really took off

Awesome camera Alex, what could I say that you possibly dont know already?;) Btw theres more beer where that came from if you come over and snap some shots of mine:D

Thanks Justin! dont worry about more beer, when I get back from vacation, i'll shoot your tank.
Hey Doug,I did meet your girlfriend, very nice lady :) I only used the tank lights, and I think those shots where 50/50 between 100 and 400 ISO. msg , me next week and we can set something up mixing photography and reefing, if you guys would like ;)
MandM, the only reason I was 20'-30' from the tank was because the lens I had on the camera was way too long for the shots.

Thanks guys!
