New shrimp and pics

Pistol shrimp are just cool! They co-exist usually with a watchman type goby - the shrimp has poor eyesight but is a great construction worker, while the goby likes to live in caves and has better eyesight.

Together the goby will stand guard in front of a cave that the shrimp built- the shrimp will keep an antennae on the goby to listen for warning of any intruders to their home. Together they keep each other safe and housed.

I got a new pistol shrimp to go with my aurora goby. He acts like a watchman and I have seen pictures of him with pistols so I'm hoping mine will pair up but the new shrimp is small. In the meantime the new shrimp decided to be super cool and build his home out in the open underneath my clam and on the side of the glass where I can see him.

Just wish the flash didnt wash everything out so much.

Nice pics Chrisstie. You can't turn your flash off ? I never use my flash for pics. I have 716w's of light, I don't need anymore than that, LOL.

If I do turn the flash off then everything is pretty washed over blue and I need to color correct it because of my T5s..

Those pics were taken by my husband using his Sony A100 and him having me stand holding the detatched flash.

I think that the angle I was holding it hit the sides a bit wrong- that one pic is pretty clear while the others it looks like it reflected more, but at least Gladys was in the shot.

If i try to use a point and shoot its more like a point and miss she is so fast
