New Skimmer Review - Bubble Magus NAC7

Broke my first pinwheel yesterday. The original lasted about 15 months. I guess that is acceptable seeing as though the skimmer has been on 24/7 the whole time. Time to order a backup!

As for skimmer performance, it is holding up amazingly well for what the purchase price was. The acrylic has held up very well. The only part of the skimmer that has deteriorated is the rubber on the skimmer cup, which creates the seal between the body and cup. A small maybe 1/4" has lost it's adhesion to the skimmer cup. It doesn't effect performance at all and since I use a Swabbie, I only remove the cup once every few months, so it has not gotten any worse.

The Atman pump itself, barring the impellers, has also held up really well.

So at the two year mark, with regular maintenance, this is a hell of a skimmer for the price.

My skimmer chamber in my sump is 8.5 x 13.5. Is there any way this might fit in there?

I think that may be about an inch or two too small. It's about 8.5" wide from the tip of the volute to the back of the skimmer on its shortest width. Not enough clearance for water to get into the volute. Sorry.

Hi,
I am from Singapore. Anymore update on the skimmer? I am going to build a tank, and considering to get NAC7 for my 3x2x2 fro LPS dominated mix reef. Will this skimmer do the job?
