Broke my first pinwheel yesterday. The original lasted about 15 months. I guess that is acceptable seeing as though the skimmer has been on 24/7 the whole time. Time to order a backup!
As for skimmer performance, it is holding up amazingly well for what the purchase price was. The acrylic has held up very well. The only part of the skimmer that has deteriorated is the rubber on the skimmer cup, which creates the seal between the body and cup. A small maybe 1/4" has lost it's adhesion to the skimmer cup. It doesn't effect performance at all and since I use a Swabbie, I only remove the cup once every few months, so it has not gotten any worse.
The Atman pump itself, barring the impellers, has also held up really well.
So at the two year mark, with regular maintenance, this is a hell of a skimmer for the price.
