I bought this starfish as a linkia but I know it is not now that I got it home. I need an ID to see if it is reef safe or is going to eat my corals or snails. Still in QT tank. The red floaties are some cyclop-eez in the acclimation pitcher.
It is a Fromia. Reef safe, though needs a very long acclimation into a pristine mature reef tank with loads of LR. Often starve in 12-18 months in smaller systems without enough LR....if they make it past the first month (many die from acclimation shock - watch for disinitegration from the arm tips and white patches).
I did a 5 hour drip acclimation. It seems healthy currently in the other tank. I will move it into the reef tonight and watch closely. Thanks in advance.
Is the tank on the same system? If not, you will need to acclimate to the other tank. And if you bought it recently, it is a lot of acclimating to do in a short period.
