New start

Hello everyone. I have lived in Tennessee for a few years now, but have had plenty of reef tank experiance. I lived in Michigan, and was an active member of Michigan Reefers, and loved my reefing experiance. The biggest I ever got to was a 90 gallon reef, sump, 2 metal halids, protien skimmer, 4 T-5's, moon lights, and RO unit. I loved it. I had to step away from the hobby due to loss of job and funds, but now I am back. I want to start out slow, so wondering if anyone has a 30 gallon tank, or somewere around there, for sale. Would like a stand to come with it, but I am flexable. Thanks guys, and I am planing on attending the meeting in October with a friend and class mate that informed me aobut the ETRC. Hope to be talking to everyone more in the future!!:wavehand:

I'll have a 125 available soon LOL and most of what you'd need to do the lighting, etc.

Wow, well first land lord won't allow me to have anything that big. That is one drawback I am really upset about. Second, probably out of my price range to. Lol. But thanks for the offer. If anything changes I would for sure let you know.

I have a couple 55gallon setups I'm selling. Look for my thread in this forum.

Cee...Can you post up some detals on your 125? Should I decide to go back to (ok keep) a 125 along with the 220, I would love to have one that's drilled and reef ready.

It's a 125 wide, 6'X2'X18" deep. It has a oak stand and an oak canopy, both stained light, all made by yours truly. Single overflow with dual 1-1/2" Stockman overflows, Euro and cross braced. It's in good shape, built like a tank, and I've had it for about 4 years. I'll even throw in the sump, acrylic and 30-something gallons. Probably ask $500 for it all. I don't presently have pics but that can easily be solved.

I may also be breaking down my Oceanic 33 cube in a few weeks. That might be more up your alley. It kinda depends on how the 280 works out and what we decide to do with the pipe fish but if your even remotely interested I'll definately let you know when the time comes...

Edit: It could be as bare-bones or complete as you wanted if I do get rid of it

What kind of pipefish do you have they might go nicely in my LPS tank? Not too much flow and I feed with mysis and cyclops often enough for them to get fat.

I doubt we will part with the pair of African blue stripes but if we do I'll let ya know

Modify, do you have any pics of the Hex Tank? How much you asking? I am looking for something I can get this weekend maybe.

Thanks

Cee, I would be very interested but want to try to get it going this weekend. Would like to try and have it cycled before the meeting in October.

I also have seen one on Craigslist that I might get as well. Just trying to see what all everyone has on here to. I know reefer hobbyist take care of there stuff. I think I will be going with a canister filter as well, so if anyone has one laying around they want to sell let me know. So, how does one become a member of the ETRC?
Thanks,
Dan

I have one I'm selling for $50. It's an eheim 2213. I listed it in another thread in this forum. I think that's the price I posted, if I remember right.

Hey, Dan.

I have an old (15+ years) Eheim 2217 filter with a set of disconnect valves and some filter materials that I am not using. It has a slow cross-thread leak in the outlet stub, but that housing can be replaced for $20 last time I checked - Aquarium used to carry the part. I'd sell it for $20.

So, how does one become a member of the ETRC?
Just show up at a meeting and pay your dues. Or check out our website at easttnreefclub.com and fill out the form (it will go to Eddie, our president, who will likley tell you to come to the meeting and pay the dues).

That's a nice deal... but the threads aren't actually a sealing point on my 2217. If the hose is the right size, it seals onto the hose barb. The threaded collar just helps it to not slip off the hose barbs. ..or is yours a different design?

Yours sounds the same as mine. The leak developed on old tubing and I put on the new (from Eheim -- proper size) and it still happened. It would leak back across a scratch on the hose barb and work its way through a cross-threaded portion of the threads. I had no reall need of it since I was just using it as a pod incubator, so I took it out of service and never bothered to buy the new pump housing cover for it.

Right now it is just gathering dust in my garage. If somebody wants to buy it for $20 or trade a frag of something I would like for my tank, I'd be happy. I would check first, though, to make sure that the replacement covers are still available unless you thought you could fix this leak on your own.

Runner, is the pump and impeller still good on it as well? So I would have to buy the housing part to fix it. I am very interested. Were about are you located?
Thanks,
Dan

Oh, also if anyone has a cup or two of live sand I could buy/have maybe on Friday some time I would appreciate that to. Every little bit helps.

Thanks,
Dan
