new sump pics

Just thought I would share some pics of my new acrylic project. I wasnt happy with the size of my sump because of some of the skimmers I have reviewed. The height was making it hard to get some of the larger ones in and out. So I descided to build my own. Dimensions are 36L 14W and 12H . Looks pretty good and am water testing now.

1/4 inch I figured the baffles will keep it from bowing too much and they should keep the sides pulled in pretty well. I may put a euro brace on of some type. Not sure if needed or not. I may do something at the corners if i dont do a whole top brace.

The only part that will bow is the top portion of the sump when you shut the main pumps off and all the water drains to it since there is no bracing there. I wouldnt worry about the corners and maybe put a brace in the middle that will be out of the way. Looks real good though Jesse.

Great job jesse. I agree with Josh about the brace. I don't think you will have much to worry about.

so how much you want for a duplicate. that size should fit perfect under my stand. like you said tho, my current sump is too tall also and makes doing anything under there a pain

I would seriously consider putting some sort of brace on the corners. On my acrylic one, I tried to take the short cut and paid for it with a wet basement 4 months later because the one end of the sump with the most water split the seam and everything spilled. Even if you just cut some triangle pieces and cement them to each corner you should be fine, just something to keep the top corners pulled together.

Just wanted to say I was up till 5 am getting this all put in. I broke a fitting I need so I had to make up something until I could get up this morning and go to lowes. its 9 am now and I am beat. looks good though.

yea well it took a little longer than I thought. I got started at 1230 and well it took a bit. I broke a key fitting and had to scrounge some stuff up to get it going. Its good now. I would say about half the stuff you brought over phil will not make it. The one big blue tort is loosing flesh fast. THe other big one has the polyps coming out.
