Hello everyone,
I just upgraded my lighting from 4 55 watt PC's to 6 39 watt T5's driven on an Ice Cap 660 & 430. All I can say is wow! I'd recommend this switch a hundred times over!
I built the new cap with 2 coralife 3/4 watt moon light LEDs and two 4" fans blowing along the length of the bulbs (dead quiet). The bulbs each have their own SLR and the ballasts are mounted above the canopy and benefit from the extra air movement.
I honestly can't believe the difference, with all 6 bulbs the tank literally glowed.
Here is an example, I set the camera to manual so none of the settings changed:
Old lights
New light
New lights (2 only on the IC 430)
Bulbs are:
Front
ATI blue plus
Geismann Pure actinic
ATI aquablue special
ATI blue plus
ATI aquablue special
ATI blue plus
