New tank?? 280ish

I was lazy yesterday.. I haven't done anything new but replace my laptop :rolleye1: I need to get going on the stand. Haha Yeah it was pretty odd walking through the hole in the wall before I put the metal stand in. I'm not sure exactly how long its going to take to get it all done. I'm thinking the stand should be done in a few days. Once I work on it that is haha. I also need to cut some tile and epoxy the floor. Then the big unknown is the whole skylight and the lift. With the skylight and the light shaft I'll have to do some major reworking on my Canopy lift. I think I've got it figured out. But we know how that is lol.
 
Nothing really worth posting. I had to wait till the weekend to cut the tile out and chisel out the thin set since needless to say its a little loud So the wife and kid had to be awake lol.. Infact I waited till they weren't home saturday. Got that done patched the floor then had to wait a day to epoxy it.. I drilled the bottom of the stand and added 6 5/8" bolts to it. I got the top cut and installed. So the stand is now in place and level. I cut all the pieces for the frame of the skin.. Just have to wait for some glue to dry to assemble them.. Then I have to cut all the trim pieces that make up the columns lol. Hope to do that tomorrow night. Hour here and there.. Wait a day for paint to dry then another hour here and there lol.

My tank hasn't shipped yet cause they are having a hard time finding a truck with a lift gate. So no pics of it yet.. I told them today if they can give me a ETA with in a few hours of when the tank would get here then I could get a fork lift and have it here. But I don't want to rent one for the entire day if I can help it. Since the thing has a shipping weight of around 800Lbs with shipping crate. lol I don't want to try and round up enough people to off load it in the middle of the day. Plus I'm sure they wont give me an Exact time so trying to get people to hang out for 2 hours waiting on the truck would be an issue. But at any rate I'll get it done one way or another haha.

lol, Ugh sorry to say I'm still waiting on my skylight to come in also :( Its about time for it to get here any day now. It was a custom order since I wanted it without the Low E coating on the glass. Same price as the standard just takes 30 days to get..

Most of my livestock including all my Live sand and Live rock are in the two tanks below. I rigged my sump and my 100 gallon livestock tank together for a make shift 200 gallon system lol I did move Most of my SPS to my frag tanks that are connected to the 92. I was scared moving all the sand and rock over would cause a pretty big cycle, But to my surprise my No3 has stayed 0. I hope I get that lucky when I move everything over to the 300.. I'm sure I wont though lol.

Sigh Skylight should be here the 26th. They said it was 30 business days.. I guess that means 60 days since I placed the order 8/24 lol they must have a 3.5 day work week sweeeet.

Anyway since Bob or H@rry hasn't posted I guess my fix of adding 6 5/8" bolts along the bottom of the stand was a good enough fix for the concerns of weight distribution? I adjusted the tank to get it level with the main bolts then unscrewed the added bolts till they touched the floor plus just a little. I figured, that way the main bolts that are threaded into Nuts welded in the frame would carry most of the load. Then the added bolts would take up the slack. The added bolts are only threaded into the Steel tubing. But I think with one every 12" plus what was there it should do the trick?

I haven't replied because it seemed like you had it all covered.:p

I don't think that the bolts would "punch through" the concrete, but I was thinking about in "years to come" if the bolts/threaded fittings/nuts, etc. deteriorated to the point that they "slipped/stripped a thread" that one point would "settle" a little more. If you're going to use pressure treated shims all along the base I don't see that being a big problem. Use the leveling bolts to get it level and then shim the rest so it can't move.
 
Harry, I don't think Will has to worry about "years to come" by then that whole room will be his aquarium. We will be able to stand in the hall and watch him scuba dive into the tank.

lol Monica. Nope I promised the wife I wouldn't tear the room apart again for a long time haha. Since its only been a few years since I got the 190 and I'm already replacing I had to promise this one would stay for at least that long if not longer..

Haha looks can be deceiving! I was also concerned about the bolts rusting. My fix for this was to remove all the bolts and put a good old thick layer of Grease on the threads then screw them back into the stand. I didn't paint the heads of the bolts cause I figured I scratch them up anyway.. I plan on covering them with silicone once I'm sure the stand doesn't need to be moved anymore.

My wife called and said that I got a call saying my skylight was in and ready for pickup? After talking with them yesterday in person and them saying it would be the 26th go figure..

Well I managed to have a water leak before I even get the tank going lol. No SW just fresh.. I was working on my stand today trimming it out and what not.. Well this stand is just a touch longer.. Just enough for me to have to remove the baseboards and trim them to fit.. Well when I went to pull the baseboard off the right side. All I heard was a ssssssss and then sure enough a steady stream of water started running down the bottom plate of the wall and right to my floor drain in the equipment room. I jumped up, ran outside and turned the water off. I was laughing of course.. Shannon asking me what on earth am I doing each time I run by. Well removed the base board and sure enough a finish nail that was holding the base board on was shot clean through a water line.. Since the line was copper It didn't leak as long as the nail was there to plug the hole.. So needless to say I didn't get my stand finished cause I spent the past couple hours fixing a water line :rolleye1: Shannon wasn't to happy with the nice hole I cut in the wall so I could fix the line.. I'm kind of glad I removed the baseboard.. I can just see that nail rusting through in couple of years and letting go while we aren't home.. The part of the nail that was in the line had already rusted down a lot..

Wow, how unlikely is that to happen? Kinda like a nail in a tire, don't try to pull it out until you're ready to fix a flat!
 
Lol just think if I didn't know how to solder. A plumber would have loved a call at 7pm on sunday.. You have to admit though it was a pretty good shot.. I mean it was dead center of the line.. I told my wife its not my fault I just pulled it off. Of course first thing she said was weren't you the one that put the baseboard on?... I told her I'm not an expert, But I'm pretty sure after 2 years the statue of limitations had ran out who every might have shot the pipe...

On a Much better note.. My tank will be here at 2pm so says the non English speaking truck driver. They shipped it Thursday BTW. So fingers crossed it makes it in one piece.

Last time I drove to Florida I had a flat tire... right in front of the Walmart Tire & Lube in Troy, AL.
