New Tank 96x48x26 any advice??

As for the ballast...ALWAYS go for the HQI!!!! Using 20 k Radiums with HQI ballast is a must otherwise the color will be too blue. As for 6500 Iwasaki's...they will burn more white instead of yellow on the HQI's. Yes you should run some VHO's...the ones that look pink, I'm not sure of the kelvin...but it will bring out the reds and pinks of your reef which will really make a difference.
Some like the 14k lamps...it's up to you!:D

Now lets talk about the what it will cost you in electricity....Hmmmm Mike Paletta's 550 costs him $400 a month! Wow...thats a car payment. About 1/3 is from the pumps and the rest is from the lighting. If you want coral growth then the Iwasaki's with a pfo hqi are the best...even at 250 watt...but the color is not as pleasing so maybe run one in your grow out tank as an option. For looks...the 14 k lamp is most appealing. Go check out some of your friends tanks to be sure...and look at them with and without the atinics on to decide. George

They toughest part of my 96"L is the flow, you may need 2 Tunze Streams one on each end. Also I had to go BB because I could not get the flow I wanted without blowing substrate all over.
I have 2 closed loops in mine and that just didnt do it.
BTW I love the dimensions of your new tank!
