New tank after being out of it since 2008

Hey guys I have been a member for like 10 years but am now getting back in to the hobby and need a few refreshers. I just bought a used 75 gal tank with about 80 pounds of LR and a bunch of mushroom coral. I replaced the sand bed when I moved the tank and have it all setup. The tank is drilled and has a rio + 1700 return pump. I feel like the overflow is really noise and almost waiting on water. What would be the fix for this? Do I need a bigger return pump? All the reading I have done seem to say this pump is fine but get a lot of loud slurping from the overflow. Thanks for the help and I am glad to be back in the hobby.

The first few places I would look are the drain, which I assume is a Durso. They can't handle a lot of flow before they start gurgling. Next would be the overflow weir. The main causes here are too much flow or the water falling too far from the weir to the water level in the overflow. The last place is how the drain line enters the sump.

Slowing down your flow or raising your standpipe can fix some of those issues, but getting the water to enter your sump quietly can be a challenge.

Thanks for the reply I will get some pictures tonight that might help as I am not sure if everything is correct. I just tested everything water wish and tank is doing great. I just added a cleanup crew and 2 Blue/Green Reef Chromis to get things going
