New tank and fishroom setup...

After 3 years of looking at scratched acrylic in my 180, I am ready to switch to glass. Sizewise, I'm downgrading to a 93 gallon cube that I ordered from Gary at Elmer's. It's going to be a slow process to switch it all over because I will be running the plumbing through the floor into a fish room that I will be setting up. I am also looking into a 100g Rubbermaid sump setup. If anyone is interested I can post pics as I go. It should take me a couple of months. Once I am done, I will be looking to sell my 72" T5 light setup. Wish me luck, this should be a fun project.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate them.

Thanks
E

Why not set something temporary to hold all your livestock and use the 180 for your sump? Would give you a ton of room for fuge skimmer reactors etc.

I had though about that, the 180 is braced so it has 2 smaller openings at the top soninwould have to cut bigger holes in the top to fit my skimmer in there. If that won't be a problem, i might do that.

Once I am done, I will be looking to sell my 72" T5 light setup.

I am looking to upgrade to a 180 so when the time comes i would have interest in your 72" lighting. Let me know when you are ready to move it and what kind it is and how much you want and maybe we can make a deal.

Thanks

I have everything I need for the move. Tank, stand and glass top arrived today. Lights should be here tomorrow and skimmer by the end of the week. I am in the process of running the plumbing down stairs and ran into an issue with a heat/AC duct. This is the second time I ran into duct work. This time I am just going to have the duct and vent moved down a foot or two. I got my 100gal Rubbermaid stock tank at tractor supply.

I am looking for a deal on a calc reactor and an RO/DI unit if anyone has one. I also am looking for a plumber to run h2o from my gameroom bathroom through the wall to the fishroom. The issue is that the shower only has a single knob for the temp and I need to have hot and cold knobs. So if anyone knows a trustworthy, reasonable plumber please send me their info!

Thanks!

Btw, honks, that's sounds good to me. Here are some pics of my current setup. One of the cooling fans crapped out but I haven't had any problems with too
much heat. It's probably an easy fix but I am no good with electronics.

Ok, plumbing all figured out and parts ready to assemble. Hole(s) in ceiling of fishroom. There turned out to be 3 ducts where I needed to go through the floor to the fish room. Rather than spend a fortune moving the duct, I will drill the hole 5" back from original plan and just run a couple 45degree elbows under the tank. The marineland 300g skimmer is here, my MH,t5, Lunar LEDs, 1800gph pump, new heaters, Rubbermaid stock tank, brute can ready to go and getting my BulkReefSupply RO/DI today. Now just waiting on the electrician to install the GFCI. Then it's a waiting game until Nov 1.

I have a calcium reactor setup i am about to sell.

Geo 624 with an aquarium plants electronic regulator and 10lb tank. Will let you know a price.

I drilled through the floor today to make the holes for the plumbing. There's something unnerving about cutting a hole through hardwood floors when you have never done anything like that. It's about 3-4" square.

The PVC fits perfectly, now I have to patch all the holes in the ceiling from running into duct work. Does anyone know someone who can patch these reasonably? I want to get it patched before I put anything in the sump, obviously.

I was extremely nervous when I drilled our floor for a basement sump, I drilled the hole the first day we owned the house LOL, It was so worth it, I'm sure you will like having your sump in the basement. Sorry, I don't know any drywallers.
Thanks for the pictures, i love builds !

Ok, my friend is coming over Tuesday to patch around the PVC. Then I will have to wait Until Sunday to start the "final process". I HATE THE WAITING GAME. But that's the hobby we chose.

Update. Patched ceiling. Drilled hole and installed drain bulkhead for Stock tank sump and fuge. Started playing around with placement of sump parts. Drilled hole in floor of tank stand. Installed drain an return bulkheads in tank. Set up light stands and started cutting PVC for plumbing. Put heater in my RO/Di storage water.

Looks great! I loved my 60 cube, and often saw that 93 when walking into Elmers and daydreamed about the extra 6 inches in both directions and how that would change the landscape. So many options for aquascaping, can't wait to see it!

yeah, it is taking every thing in my not to start ripping apart my current tank to start playing with rockwork setup. I ordered 100lb of hawaiin black sand tonight. it should really pop under that lighting and the live rock that is already purpled up.

I got the tank set up today and did all the plumbing to the basement. I'm ready for water. Waiting on my Black sand to arrive and that should be it.
