ok ive had a few keystones haha so try to stay with me,, after a few weeks of thoughts and a day of talking about it ive decided to start my new tank, it will be a diy shallow tank that measures 30x30x16 with a 14 inch water line, i built my last nano(16x16x14) using 1/4 inch glass, do to cost i wanna use the same thickness on this tank but plan on a 1 inch euro brace along the bottom of the tank that will be covered by sand for the real rimless look, i have most of the equipment already but i do have a car show this week so building wont start till next week, just wanted some input from fellow reefers on what they think and there will be lots of pics of this build, im hoping this will also excite the strs thread a bit and we can all work together to get this done the right way let me know what ya think and a few of us will take your comments into consideration and start building next week!
thanks D

very interesting with the euro at the bottom. not sure if id go with 1/4 inch tho if you arnt going to brace it at the top with a tank that large.

Sounds nice! I have never tried to build a glass tank but I am looking forward to seeing how it comes out. Good luck!!

adam thanks, the link worked but pics didnt, and thanks for the frags at the swap their doing great
jack- its going to be more of a shallow tank then a look down
fatrip- id love to go with half inch but the price more then doubles, so im gonna try the bottom brace and water test it in the garage and let it sit for a week or so to make sure theres no bowing, with such small height my theory is most of the weight should be on the bottom rather then the sides?
nate-thanks! i built my last nano it came out pretty good for my first build, its 16x16x14 quarter inch glass i double siliconed black i plan on double siliconing this as well but will prolly go with the clear

sorry about the bad pic but this is my last diy project i build the tank, sump, stand, and canopy, the stand had a cover for the front with a window cut out so you could only see the fuge area it was held on by magnets but i left it off one day and my dog chewed it up haha i plan on doing the same thing with the new tank except it will be a 29 gallon sitting horizontally and the divider for the fuge will be 2 pieces of 1/8 inch acrylic glued together but with a bow in it to add some depth for the fuge,,ill prolly put an angler in there not certain yet though

enough chat Dustin......LETS GET BUILDING!!!!!

Haha just kidding man. I'm glad i'll be able to get some hands on building on this one!

ok so im about to head out for the weekend to a car show then that pet/that fish place on the way home,,yayy,, but when i get back i should be ordering my glass and start building the stand, as long as dfs dosnt take all my money haha so there should be some new building pics up shortly, also ive decided to go with 3/8 inch glass

a few pics of the new stand i went with white cause it matches the trim in the rest of the room i put mirrors on the front for a modern look(not too sure how much im feelin it) but the front is held on by magnets, theres a pack of cigarettes on top for scale, let me know what you guys think hopefully ordering some glass this weekend

It looks much bigger in person, and I can't wait to get this tank going! Get that glass ordered, and lets go to town man!

i know what ya mean dave, im planning on just using my 10gallon sump im using on my current system it will be on the opposite side of the power outlets and dont let the pic fool you theres plenty o room under there between the two

ya i just wanted to try something different that i hadnt seen before and i just didnt really turn out the same as it did in my head but oh well i believe if i had done the stand black they would have popped more the way i thought they were going to,,,guess im just gonna have to make the tank so awesome you dont even look at the stand hahaha
