new tank fish

I would stay with small species:
occelaris or percula clownfish
royal gramma
chalk bass
bangii cardinalfish
pajama cardinalfish
firefish (red or purple)
shrimp gobies and a shrimp (really cool)
lubbocks fairy wrasse
many more choices just some hardy and cool ones

yellow coris wrasse (one of my favorite fish)
YWG (another cool one)
clowns (I have a pair of percs who are fun and energetic)
dwarf angel (my rusty is the star of my tank)
carpenters wrasse (mine is very cool to watch)
my red firefish are very, very cool and add color
yellow tail damsels are more peaceful then most and are stunning
small gobies are always an easy way to add color and their rock hopping antics make them funny to watch

One of my favorites is a peppermint or Pacific red striped hog. They are about $150.00, but a real show stopper. Allens damsels, yellow tail damsels, firefish, false percual clown, small wrasses, chromis, lots of gobies, asessors, pseudochromis(some are mean), basslets, grammas, other dartfish, pygmy angels, there are quite a few. Just stick to 5 2-3'' fish or a couple 5'' fish and a few smaller fish. If I were you, I'd do a nice Carribean tank. they aren't too commonly done and it would be fun researching the fish and corals. This a list of Carribean fish and inverts to choose from. I'm not suggesting you add all of these to your set-up.
royal gramma/ other basslets
blue chromis
neon gobies
Swissguard Basslet
chalk bass
pearly jawfish
red cardinal

Carribean liverock is some of the best.
Carribean cleaner shrimp, anemone shrimp, peppermint shrimp, or a coral banded shrimp
most hermit crabs
gorgonians
some stony corals
zooanthids
ricordia
open brains
pepperment shrimp
brittle stars
some anenomes(most Carribean ones have potent stings, but Carribean fish usually know this and stay out of them. Stay with a small one)
several snails
fire coral
lots of interesting macro algaes, like mermaids cups and shaving brush, and mermaid's fans
tube worms
and a lot more. You could take a summer vaction to the Florida Keys and collect a lot of your invertebrates and soft corals.

Makes me want a smaller tank...lol

My 37 gallon Carribean fish list would probably be:
1 pearly jaw fish
2 neon gobies
1 royal gramma
1 chalk bass
1 red cardinal

and all the corals and inverts I could fit in there.
1 swissgaurd basslet
