New tank for my mantis!

Say no to clove polyps
I upgraded my 10 gallon N. wennerae tank to a 20 gal. high softy tank. The mantis has been busy all day and night working on a new burrow. :) I had some softies that were outgrowing my 75 gal. so instead of selling them I decide to give them their own tank.

That leather in the middle hasn't quite adjusted yet but it had really nice green polyps.

Thanks! I ordered some nice t5 bulbs for this fixture and added some zoanthids. Mantis is really busy in there but I can't entice him to come out yet. He's in that donut hole under the toadstool and he looks out from there while he's working sometimes. My plan is to get those maxijets out of there and add some koralias, add a few small pieces of rock and a few more corals, maybe some mushrooms and some more zoanthids.

Just got my new ATI bulbs in! Here's a short video,

I took that big feather duster out of my big mantis tank and when I tried to remove it something was pulling on the other end. I looked down and my big peacock had a hold of it and was right below my hand!

sick dude looks awesome...miss getting tons of mantis...its just not the same anymore...so sad
Thanks! I wondered where u disappeared to. I added 2 yellow tail damsels last night and that little mantis took out one of them. I was more worried about the mantis than the fish but it looks like he can take care of himself.

New pics. More corals added, zoanthids, mushrooms and I got the stupid maxi jets out. :D Most importantly I finally got a few pics of the mantis.

Found this worm in there too. It hangs out on my toadstool at night. This is just piece of it. It is over a foot long and I've never seen the other end of it.

New addition. The mantis is getting good sized now and the strikes are getting really loud in the tank. He hasn't changed color a bit since the addition of stronger lighting. He is very active and I see him all the time but he doesn't hold still for pictures very often. I'll get some pics of him as soon as I can.

Your new tank is way better, what kind of sand do you have? I'm trying to decide which sand to go with for my peacock tank this time.

It's a mix of fine aragonite and crushed coral. It's a very thin sandbed and the mantis spends most of his time in a hole he dug in the rock in the front middle. He uses the small rubble pieces but I don't know what he does with them. He must have a different burrow he sleeps in because I don't see his hole close up at night.

you gave your mantis a great looking home, very nice.
Thank you. :)
