Hi
New to the hobby and did a lot of research but I guess not enough.
Have a 46 bow front gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump , did a fishes cycle for 27 days with Nitrifying Bacteria.

using marine pure - and bio home for filter Water used is from a aquatic life rodi unit.
using Protein skimmer reef octopus
Dry rock and about 1 in of live sand.

Red sea test and Nh3 tested with seneye monitor.
Ph 8.1
temp 78.3f
Nh3 .001 with
NO2 - 0-0.05
NO3 - 20
Kh -9
salinity - 1.24

Today went and got 2 small clowns , one die within 3 hours did drip acclimation, the other is still alive it been about 6 hours now and he is acting weird staying by the powerhead to sleep tonight and is moving a lot.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Your n03 is high & salinity level is also a bit high. Did you do a water change after cycle or prior to your test parameters? I personally would of waited 1-1 & half weeks prior to adding live stock. What was/is your lfs salinity readings?

My clowns also sleeping near my powerheads, it's like a comfort/territory zone. If you have anemone, they'll sleep in there.

60% water change few days before adding the 2 fish , the store water was 1.021 so I messed up there.

what is the ideal see online 1.020-1.025 ? mine was 1.024 is lower better?

1.024 is within tolerance, but I believe 1.021 is more ideal if fish only for now. The fish might of got stress out. especially if your lfs just recently received them. 60% water change & the n03 is that high

Only a 27 day cycle? Thats a bit short and jumming the gun a little, maybe wait a little befor putting anything els in, your lvls can look right but while within the cycle time they could jump again, imo i would wait untill you see a steady lvl accross all tests befor adding anything els
