New tank setup

Hi, I am just now settinig up what I am hoping is gonna be my new reef tank. I added my washed sand and salt mixed water, turned on the heater and filter. My question is how long before the water will start to clear? The filter has been running since about 7am this morning. Also what would my next steps be? Thanks for any advice and help!

Have you added any live rock yet or any thing to get your bacteria to start growing to start the cycle.
It can take a few hours to a few days for a tank to clear usally.
Having live rock in there to get your cycle started will help as the bacteria starts to build on the sand and particals to help hold them down and settle.

What kind of tank are you setting up?

Throw filter floss in your filter, toss it and fill up in a day. That will help it clear up faster. Wait. Then test.

Thanks everyone! AntiSatan I added live rock this morning and it is all clear! Xavibear, I am setting up a reef tank with a couple of fish. ImP3R1AL, thank you, I will get some filter floss and throw that in also.
