New tank transfer and algae

I want to transfer some corals and live rock from my old 60 gal to new Red Sea Max-E 260 w/sump. New tank has been set up about 2 weeks, with dry rock and live sand. Parameters are good and steady. Experiencing diatom bloom.

Problem is old tank has turf algae and I don't want that problem in new tank. What can I do?

Get a bunch of turbo snails, they'll mow that turf algae to the bare rock. I have 2 golfball size turbos that do a great job with that stuff in my tank. But as you probably know, that type of algae is indicative of high nutrients (nitrate/phosphate) so the best way to deal with that is to improve your nutrient export processes. I've had good success w/vinegar dosing and heavier (wetter) skimming. Others try to grow macroalgae in a refugium. Bottom line is that the only type of algae that can really survive in a low nutrient situation is bubble algae. That stuff is ridiculous! Any other algae problem is usually diminished significantly by improving nutrient export. Good luck!

Peroxide can get rid of the algae with some spot treatments. Do a quick search to find out how much to use as I can't remember the exact ratio but it does work
