Thanks to everybody who has helped me with the design of my cube. It's ready now. Today I've put the live rock in and turned the light on.
Don't pay attention to the fake dollar bills
they support the light. I wish I could hang it properly

I'll try to snap some higher-quality ones later.
Equipment:
DIY acrylic cube, about 17 US gallons (64 litres).
Built-in sump (1/3 of total volume), 3 sections.
First section: floss+carbon.
Second section: return pump (aquabee 3000), chiller pump.
Third section: refugium (macro algae will be there). The water flow is teed off the main pump.
150W 10000K MH light, supplemented by two 15W actinic fluorescents (one pink, one blue; not sure about their exact kind).
Teco micro chiller (bought used).
Not sure how many lb of live rock from an established tank (LFS display tank), probably too much for this small cube! The owner didn't weigh them, just named his price and it sounded right to me so I shelled out.
A bag of "instant cycling" (ha!) sand.
No protein skimmer as of now; probably will add one down the road.
Haven't tested the water yet. The plan is to start testing for ammonia tomorrow and test daily. Then we'll see.
This all happens in my office in Haifa, Israel. I'm a total newbie, this is my first tank, please tear my ideas and implementation in pieces so that I could learn from your frustrating experience, not my own ;-P
