ok im starting a new tank 55 has been established else where for 4 mnths no live rock was holding tank i just added 150 lbs of rock how long before spikes nitrite nitrate exct any info would be good

Exact info would be good. But, alas, we are not fortune tellers. Good fortune would say that the rock is already partially cured but we don't know if it is or not...Do you? If you acquired cured rock it should be only a brief time...could even be a matter of days before the tank cycles through and your chemistry is good enough to begin to slowly put some livestock in. But that isn't usually the case though it can be in some instances. Without knowing more about the rock you put in, it's difficult to say. If there's a lot of "die off" from the rock, it would take longer...weeks, for example. In any event...just as it was hard for me and others, patience is very important at this point in your system's progress. Testing is part of that deal.

The rock was out of water for 3 weeks? Then you will probably see very big spikes, because there will be some serious die off.
