I am a little confused as to what I'm looking at. are the down pipes coming from the aquarium? If so what kind of overflow are you useing from the aquarium. In other words ---how is the water getting to the sump?

the white tagged tubes are coming from the return pump,

the red is going down to the skimming chamber inside the sump.

now inside the tank i am going to make a black separator glass or acrylic and 2 1" holes linking the tubes with the separator using bulkheads.

i know some will say why not directly to the tank ? its because i just want to reduce the holes in the tank.

how about dropping the height of the glass partition you've got, add a weir comb to it and you've got a full width weir, you can now use durso type pipes in the section, 2 less holes to drill. i would also move the water change tap to one of the feed pipes
