I'll give it a go - generally speaking most stuff is safe- the rock isnt because it is "live" but thats a dead beaten horse :)

The other thing I would avoid law wise is crab 11 and crab 13

11 I believe is a stone crab and you can only take their claws at a certain size IIRC? Gotta check the lawbooks and way too early in the morning for my brain to do that.

13 is a blue crab that I think people eat sometimes and there may or may not be size limitations- not what you want in a reef tank!

Fish 20 generic goby?

fish 19- not sure what kind but definitely a neat blenny. Horseface or something maybe? try checking on meerwasser.de (i think thats it) there's an english version if you click the british flag and they are good for ID'ing some oddball stuff like that. Samala can probably help too if she sees this!

Fish 18.. juvenile sheepshead? or just some kind of minnow?

Shrimp 16 and 17- definitely pistols.. I think.. Teh eyes aren't on stalks right?

Not really sure about all of the crabs and snails.. for some you need a lot more photos to really narrow it down to what they are.. at least my eyes aren't any good for it.

Hope some of that helps!

The easy way to tell if the shrimp is a pistol is if he has ONE big claw. The Fish I'm still going with Serjant Majors, there are a ton of them there. Ther are a damsel. The bumblebee looking snails, I don't know the specific name of. They are a pain though. They are intertidal and will kill themselves in your tank. They will go out of the water and stay there waiting for the water to come back in. There are only 3 snails in florida that you really want. Nassarius Vibex, Nassarius Obsoleta, and Astrea Snails. You only find Astrea snails further south in Florida. You can find Vibex and Obsoleta at Sebastian in the sand at the tidal pool area. I may be wrong but it doesn't look like any of the pics of snails you have are nassarius. All nassarius snails have a little trunk that comes out, which I can't tell from the pics but it doesn't look like any of those do. The reason these three are the only ones you want is because they are the only ones that are herbivores and are not intertidal. The other snails, whelks, olive snails, etc, are all carnivores.

Snail #5 will wind up on the floor behind your tank, they crawl up and over the tops of tanks.....
Dont know about the crabs, but when we were in the Keys in a pet store there was a man there who had just had a run in with the law because he saved a land crab from the middle of the street and was in the bed of his pick up and the police were going to fine him $500.00.

Yeah, the shrimp has one big claw, so pistol it is. The gobie/blennies, I had thought were 2 of the same species. But may have been mistaken. I have a few more of each that I can post eventually. I looked up sergent majors at liveaquaria and they list them and they do in fact look like that is what they are.

and the amazing thing is that I was only there about 1.5 hours. I at first was not finding much because I didnt know where to look. Next time want to try some sort of casting net or a longer handled net.

oh boy.. looks like you caught some neat stuff... however has a friendly heads up if i was you i would take down that pic of the multi colored sponge asap.

As well as number 22, it really is for your own "security" Just delete them from your phot bucket account and they will show up as red Xs
A fellow reefer posted his very small piece and was paid a visit by FWC.

Once again......
I hate trolls!!!

anyone can come to my house, just pm for directions. AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN, I came home with nothing more than I went with except pictures. That was the whole idea. I took a picture of the bridge too, should I not post that in the thought that someone might think I stole it. The sponge is laying in the tide pool where I walked up and found it. I moved it about 6 inches to take the picture and then put it right back.

sorry didnt relize you didnt bring home what you took pic's of. no need to get short we were just trying to make sure a fellow reefer stayed out of trouble. :bum:

I actually also had several pms about the same thing. I had stated in the other thread that it would be cool to take pictures and start up a local ID thread and where you can find what kinda thing so that doesnt happen. I also had written my intentions to only take pictures so you dont have to worry about having to return something that is legal to take, but bad for your tank!

1 looks like nass vibex
2,3,4 looks like cerith snail
5,6 is (I believe) a margherita snail
9 looks like an emerald crab

Sanil in 5 & 6 is a Zebra Nerite, they are reef safe, but are tidal dwellers so they will spend all/most of their life at the water line, I've also seen them climb out of tanks as well.

9 does look like a type of Mythrax crab (Emerald relative), but is hard to determine without knowing how big or color it is.
